Popcorn and Stacy Westfall now Level 3 in mounted shooting!

15 Jun

Years of working is finally paying off! Yes, years. I bought my guns (I bought .45’s to pop balloons…lol) in 2009 and have been practicing since. In 2010 I shot of Kernel (from RTTH) and earned wins but not enough to move up. In 2011 I practiced at home all year because Popcorn didn’t like the guns. This year he is better with them and we have moved from level 1 to 2 and now from 2 to 3!

To celebrate, and because it was almost 90 degrees, I decided to wear a dress. So glad my custom holsters from Al from Cactus Custom Saddlery match my dresses too!

I had never seen mounted shooting before you explained it at Five Star Ranch, that looks like a ton of fun! Way to go Stacy and Popcorn!

That would work great for my horse as long as I wanted to jump over the balloons, haha! Great job, Stacy!

I can’t wait to get started in that … I have a .45 peackeeper (single action so it would be a bit harder) and my horses are used to the shooting from the ground. Only big hurdle I have now is that we’re expecting our 3rd & last child, so my riding time is limited. 😉 Keep it up, lady!!!

Wait till after that baby and then get started. We all have single action…yep, true! So we are all in the same boat!

GOOD for you! I am just starting out in Cowboy Mounted Shooting at the ripe ole age of 60! I haven’t ridden in almost 20 years but am retired law enforcement so have the gun safety training….so important. My horse was a level 5 so he will be just as good a trainer as my teacher. Tore my gun arm triceps so on the sideline healing now…but soon I will be back!

Stacy, I am so excited to see you again when you visit the NEC in Lake St. Louis. I rode with you at the Quarterfest on my sweet dun and we have been working on our reining freestyle with a neckrope and I’m very proud of him. I hope to get to get some pointers from you, but if not it will just be wonderful to say hello. Our whole group will be there to cheer you on

I love to see your continued work (and play!!!) with Popcorn. I had the pleasure to meet both of you in Flint, but also have his “history” on your DVDs and Road to the Horse. I thinks it’s great that HE looks engaged in the activity & you’re having fun too!

I love watching the mounted shooting. Would love to give it a try. I use to hunt off Te when I lived in Tn. So much fun. I would probably need to sell one of my other guns to be able to afford to buy the guns for the mounted shooting though. Well one can dream.

Keep up the good work and having fun.
