Life Law #2

Life Law #2-You create your own experience.

Strategy: Acknowledge and accept accountability for your life.

This is an interesting thought when applied to horses. I see too many people who don’t accept accountability for what their horses are doing. They seem surprised by the horses behavior. In some cases I can understand this because if you are new to horses there is a lot to learn, but that is where you begin to create you own experience. People either take the ‘dream’ of a horse and put legs on it (work) or they don’t…and either way they create their own experience.

I think this happens in all areas of life. I have seen several marriages struggle but again how much work has been put in? How many marriage books read together or what ever continuing learning they choose but something. These things don’t just happen-you create your experience.

I love this law, and I do see this in alot of people with their horse, and I also fall into this catigory as well. It took me a while to realize that the reason for my horse doing what they were doing was directly cause by me, And the reason why I ended lying on the ground on my butt is becuase I had created that experence for myself and my horse was only to will to indulge me in that experience. Now that I am much wiser and I have learned that there are times when the experience is sometimes not worth the pain, and I now choose to make that experience more enjoyable for me my horses and my life in general.

Thanks for sharing these laws they are fantasic.

Thx so much Stacy. While I’ve been around horses most of my life and understand that I’m connected to their behaviours, my new mustang does things that are a mystery to me and I was making the mistake of putting it on him. I needed this reminder ! Now I just need to figure out what I’m doing to create what he’s doing. Any ideas??

I saw you in Red Deer Alberta at the Mane Event and just loved watching your demos. One of the things you said that struck a chord with me was the word “accountability” . Theres not much of that left in the world anymore but it is so true. We need to bring that back into our society as a whole. It actually was an ahhhhhh! moment for me so thank your

Remember the Golden Rule and you will get by most of the time, ” Do unto others…..”

Too many people don’t know anything about horses!! anyone interested in horses should have the sense to read up on horses, and get the right person to help them along the way, meaning a person that is knowledgeable, and has experience, I am talking about the right knowledge and experience. Then the chain will be broken, it is only natural to blame the horse, when we don’t know better, and then again the right trainer can also tell when it is the horse’s fault. My advise to all, read about horses, there are so many books out!! read about the discipline that you would like to participate in, take the time to go and see a few training sessions, again with the right people, one can learn a lot just from watching! and listening. It can be a great ride, and there will be bumps along the way, it comes with the turf!! We can learn so much from our horses, but wecan only learn if we take the time, and it would help a great deal to have the right trainer that can take us down that rode!!
