Sorry to hear your news. I lost my ‘boss’ about a year ago. He was 31yrs old. I’d had him since he was 11yrs. I bought him for meat money as he’d been injured whilst at stud. He was my best friend he heard about all my worries. I’m sure he understood every word verbal and non verbal. I only had to think what I wanted and he did it. There will only ever be one ‘boss’ and there will always only be one ‘baby’, Boss was cared for like a cotton wool kid and he knew he was on to a good thing. Take Care x

So sorry for your loss, Stacy. Definitely the hardest part of having a horse as part of your family…

My deepest sympathies Stacey, we lost our 16 year old foxy dog this year, had her since she was 4 weeks old and went every where with us, so devasting, it is losing a family member, I dont sell horses very well due to the same problem. Would just love to say it was a great honour to meet you at the Sydney Equitana, I came home inspired and straight away got the cones out into the Shamrock pattern, I was the lady that warned you that your earring was half way to being lost, loll..I felt like a stalker as my husband and I followed you around to make sure we didnt miss any of your sessions. You finally had my penny dropping on quite a few things, I was and am so excited about what you were conveying. Thank you again and stay strong. Liz
wow so glad u had all those wonderful years with her!

Somewhere in time’s own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some paradise where horses go,
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.
December 5, 2011 at 6:22 pm

I got my 1st. horse around that age, too. He lived to be 30…my shetland, who we got as a companion for King at the same time, was 35… When King was ready to lrave us, he laid down and went peacefully. The next thing that happened was, Ginger, minutes after King was gone, laid down and never got back up. Three days later she passed, also. They were together 30 yrs. So sorry for your loss.

December 5, 2011 at 6:50 pm
Your horse is now free and galloping in heavenly pastures — along with my rheinlander Pepper who flew away about a month ago. Hugs to you, Stacy.
So sorry to hear your sad news…..
Don’t cry for the horses that life has set free.
A million white horses forever to be.
Don’t cry for the horses now in God’s hand.
As they dance and they prance in a heavenly band.
They were ours as a gift, but never to keep.
As they close their eyes forever to sleep.
Their spirits unbound. On silver wings they fly.
A million white horses against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven, you’ll see them above.
The horses we lost, the horses we loved.
Manes and tails flowing, they gallop through time.
They were never yours, they were never mine.
Don’t cry for the horses. They’ll be back someday.
When our time is gone, they will show us the way.
Do you hear that soft nicker? Close to your ear?
Don’t cry for the horses. Love the ones that are here.

December 5, 2011 at 7:05 pm
Awe my heart is with you girl, it’s a tough one when you have to let go of a best friend that has shared so much with you. All your secrets, the birth of your sons, and your marrage, she has been through it all with you. She looks like she was an awesome animal and I’m wondering if this is the horse that you first tried bare back a bridless and you walked back home shaking, if she is she has brought you a long was from that day for sure. Huge internet huzzzz for ya and know she had a wonderfull life.
December 5, 2011 at 7:15 pm

December 5, 2011 at 7:35 pm
Awww…what a beautiful friend…what wonderful memories you must have!!!
December 5, 2011 at 7:36 pm
The saddest kind of good-bye. Animals give us so much and ask so little in return. I said farewell to my mare Nov.2……a random broken leg in her paddock…..I’m still in shock.
My thoughts are with you. Hugs.

December 5, 2011 at 9:34 pm
Listening to your podcasts last spring, I remember you sharing stories about her. What a special horse and many memories. God blessed you with many years to care for her and thats something to be thankful for.
December 5, 2011 at 9:41 pm
Im sorry for your loss Stacy I know how hard this is. I will continue to pray for you.
December 5, 2011 at 9:47 pm
Ahhhh, I am praying. there is a special spot that I know that loving animal has next to your soul. May your heart be comforted. Only that horse knows some things about you that none of us can. Only now you may learn to be without that nudge of love. That horse will even teach you more now…… May God grant you comfort and love and still all the new lessons that will come with him gone. Funny, my mother just passed away just a month ago , I am learning things from her now that I never did with her present with me. May God be with you in all these times of learning how to be without……… and then still to be with……..new lessons.
December 5, 2011 at 9:49 pm
God Bless you and Baby Baby James! May all your wonderful memories help comfort you through this special loss in your life. You obviously learned a lot from this wonderful soul. Thank you very much for still caring for her all these years, she thanks you too. She will be there to greet you when your time comes to cross over that bridge and you will run and play again. She loves you!
December 5, 2011 at 9:58 pm
I’m so sorry for your loss, I do not look forward to the day when my soul mate passes. I can not imagine your grief. Know she’s alive in you and now she’s that playful breeze that tosses your hair and that races next to you when you’re riding. Healing thoughts being sent your way from the Pacific NW
So sorry to hear I lost my boy Warrior 4yrs ago this next March. Losing a horse is way more painful than any other animal. I feel like a piece of me died with him. Prayers to u and urs in this hard time!

December 5, 2011 at 10:37 pm
Stacy, Sorry about your loss! I totally understand what you are going through. We just lost our 30 year old horse last Sunday! He was soon to be 31. We have so many grand memories as I am sure you do. My Vet said it best about Ole “He was a GREAT horse and he knew how to leave this place! (meaning, he died on his own, and was playing with his buddies right up to the day he passed) God Blesses all our horses as they run over that rainbow! Sounds like Baby was a wonderful horse too.
December 5, 2011 at 10:41 pm
Sorry to hear about the lose of Baby 😦
May your tears be replaced by fond memories as time passes and helps you remember your special friend, and that puts a warm feeling in your heart and a beautiful smile on your face because you loved her so.
December 5, 2011 at 10:45 pm
I believe that animals we loved on earth will be waiting for us in Heaven. “Love never fails” –1 Corinthians 13. You can remember Baby knowing that you did not fail her–you loved and cared for her to the end.
December 5, 2011 at 10:50 pm
My heart goes out to you in the loss of Baby. I, too, know such a loss and there is always a little piece of your heart that is missing afterwards. Know that you gave her the best you could! Shelley

I am so very sorry for your loss! I’m feeling your pain especially. I have a 28 yr old mare I’ve had since I was 15. She was my first horse. I also have her son and daughter but I am dreading the day when it comes to day good bye to my girl! She was badly abused by an Arab trainer before I bought her. She and I built the kind of bond you barely get to experience let alone see. She has never thrown me, bitten, kicked, or done anything to hurt me out of fear or being malicious! Shes been my best friend. Your mare was gorgeous! I know you and she had the kind of bond I speak of. I hope you take comfort in knowing she is running and playing in green fields happy, healthy, and waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. My thoughts abd prayers are with you!
December 6, 2011 at 6:46 pm

ahh im so sorry for you, even if it doesn’t make any thing better i want to tell my story about my horse.
her name was Bella and my mother saved her from a riding school where she had to work on the lessons even if she was sick. so mum brought her home and gave here to me when i was two and a half, and we have so many memories together. she was wonderful! the last year she got colic three times, and the two first the vet came and gave her cramp settlement so it went away, and i wasn’t ready to let her go just yet, are you ever?
But the third time i knew it was over, and the medicines didn’t work so sat down and she put her head on my lap and just looked at me. i said to my dad, its over, shes not going to have to go through this no more. so he took her and the day after he showed me where he had buried her and i put a rose at her grave.
so on valentines day last year we had to put down my best friend.
i still miss her to day.
But i know i made the right choice.
the sorrow will never go away but it will get easier.
December 18, 2011 at 12:48 pm
“Look up into heaven
You’ll see them above
The horses we lost
The horses we loved
You gave me my magic moments the wind whipped through my hair
You were the one when i was sad that was always there
I know you will always be with me as you have been, from the start
And there will always be your hoof prints left upon my heart.”
This is true, the greatest of people do not grieve, because loosing something is what makes it a great memory. RIP Bay.
January 16, 2012 at 9:52 pm
My memories are many, thank God. I think my favorites include his coming whenever I called him a certain way, no matter how far away he was, and, how he communicated to me on our trail rides and waited for me to acknowledge what he wanted me to know.
